building strong girls

Gamma Phi Beta brings its philanthropic mission to life through its support of programs that build strong girls. Gamma Phi Beta has formed collaborative relationships with organizations that provide programming that we believe supports our philanthropic mission. Our relationship with Camp Fire and Girl Guides of Canada date back to 2002. In 2012, Gamma Phi Beta announced a new relationship with Girls on the Run.

Girls on the Run is a transformational, physical activity based, positive, youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. GOTR teaches life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. Our chapter supports a local GOTR chapter in Hamilton County and Tippecanoe.

Each fall, our sisters make an effort to attend and volunteer at our local Girls on the Run 5k event. The sisters of Gamma Phi Beta love face painting, passing out medals and cheering on all the participants.

In addition to attending our local GOTR events, we host our annual "Moonball" tournament to raise money for the organization. Moonball is a 3 on 3 basketball tournament that takes place in the CoRec almost every spring. Different sororities and fraternities on campus play against each other in a bracket style tournament. The winners of our 2017 tournament were the brothers of Sigma Tau Gamma.

Gamma Phi Beta loves building strong girls because we believe it hits close to home. If we can help young girls have more self confidence, then we can make a huge impact on society.
